About Us

We are a group of like-minded people and organisations, bound together by a shared love of Kuching, of its food and of its gastronomic culture. Both Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) collaborate with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak.

These agencies are backed by a number of Sarawak stakeholders, including food professionals and their associations, non-governmental organisations, entrepreneurs, food researchers and scientists, artisans, educationalists, smallholders and agricultural specialists. These partnerships are led by the Culinary Heritage and Arts Society Sarawak (CHASS), a broad coalition of stakeholders tasked with the promotion and preservation of the state’s gastronomic traditions, and Pertubuhan Penggiat Kesenian dan Kraftangan Sarawak (Society Atelier Sarawak), both of which spearheaded the successful application to list Kuching as a City of Gastronomy under UNESCO.
